His charitable efforts and unwavering dedication to others were unparalleled, and we are honored to continue his great work by helping children and communities thrive across the country.
Since its inception in 2000, Southern Company has presented the Payne Stewart Award alongside the PGA TOUR to a professional golfer who best exemplifies Stewart’s steadfast values both on and off the course. With each award, we donate to three charities: The Stewart Family Foundation, the First Tee of the Ozarks, and an organization of the recipient’s choice.
In acknowledgment of his character, charity and sportsmanship, Paul Azinger has been named the 2025 recipient of the Payne Stewart Award presented by Southern Company.

The Stewart Family Foundation supports organizations that help children and youth through education, sports and other activities.
The organization introduces golf and leadership programs to a diverse range of young people, with the goal of inspiring the next generation to achieve their full potential.
Opened in 2021, the center serves vulnerable children and struggling families in Manatee County, Fla., addressing hunger, sex trafficking, and financial instability.
In 2000, Byron Nelson, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer were awarded the inaugural Payne Stewart Award presented by Southern Company. Collectively, they used the Payne Stewart Award grant to support the First Tee and its mission to support and empower our youth through the game of golf.
