Honoring our Veterans’ Service

Southern Company Operations, Southern Nuclear and Southern Power hosted a virtual gathering that honored veterans across the system. A video shared during the event highlighted the many ways military veteran, active duty and reservist teammates continue to serve to make our country, our communities and our company stronger.

Southern Company is committed to supporting our veterans. Improving lives and helping strengthen our communities is core to our mission. As part of that commitment to help veterans thrive, a contribution of $28,000 was presented to The Warrior Alliance in support of its essential work for veterans and their families.

The Warrior Alliance shares the system’s commitment to serving veterans. It supports warriors and their families transitioning from military service and extends a hand to at-risk veterans when they need it most.

The contribution represented a token of gratitude on behalf of each of the 28,000 women and men across the Southern Company system. John Calhoun, president of the Birmingham-based employee resource group VetNet, presented the contribution on behalf of the system.

Discussion during the event also explored supporting veterans and their loved ones in building a path to continued success. Dialogue with longtime veteran-owned supplier, CAVCO, Inc., provided insights on veteran entrepreneurship and the system’s support of economic inclusion and growth.
